In areas where Hurricanes or super high-winds occur it seems we need to be a little more cognizant of the wind-flow modeling as each building is built or a master plan downtown renewal project is slated. This is a very serious issue. Many studies have been done in Chicago "The Windy city" and other places because the air funnels between the buildings and due to Bernoulli's Principle that air speeds up to make thru, between the buildings which makes it even worse.
There were over 230 mph winds recorded in Guam during a tropical typhoon and at the time it was the highest ever. My parents were actually in a high-rise apartment complex when it happened and the building did fine, but flying debris is dangerous and if and when pieces fall off the building they really get going and cause more damage. The Hurricanes in Miami, remnants of Wilma caused severe damage downtown, but much was from the Tornadoes that accompany such storms.
The air flow modeling around cities is quite serious and must be studied, adding an additional building can change everything, there are CAD CAM programs to study this airflow, they also use them indoors for airflow models in homes and businesses to cut down on energy requirements for let's say air-conditioning and such. These are extremely useful tools and sure beat building models for miniaturized wind tunnels.
One must also remember a Hurricane, Typhoon or Cyclone (depends where you are) will travel a certain way (Counter-Clockwise) and in lower hemisphere opposite, depends the location, but either way the storm as it passed blows winds in all directions, as it moves past, you are hit from different angles of course. See the problem and why this is such a critical issue?
what about 28-foot storm surges? Can you imagine the damage that will be caused by something of this magnitude? That would be a CAT five (plus) on the Saffir Simpson, you are talking center storm pressures pretty low, this would be a "Rita" or "Wilma" plus at land fall and you say what happened Cancun. Serious stuff. God help your beautiful Hilton Hotel or Club Med setting, see ya. You are taking a Tsunami type event similar to what followed the Sumatra Quake.
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutsshs.shtml .
Let's face it 30 feet is 30 feet, if you fail to stop that water it will wipe out everything in its path that is not protected. In the future cities will be set up with ocean-wave energy generation, but can that infrastructure survive at catastrophic storm surge? After all, you do not want the wave to knock out your power leading to a worsened event, but I think the engineers can design a system that can go idle and withstand that type of storm surge using fluid dynamic strategies, computer modeling and allowing it to go neutral and the waves over until the storm passes.
If you want to protect your city from a Hurricane, you must worry about the wind models and the storm surge modeling and perhaps you need a barriers out in the ocean to slow it down too. Reef system etc. and prevent erosion because if you have one storm that wipes out your barriers and get a second you are toast. See the issues - Let us think on this, it can be done!

Buddhist Meditation Daily Meditation Yoga MeditationThe internet has moved from novelty to virtual necessity for many people in recent years. motorhome satellite internet technology brings this necessity to your motorhome.
For many people, the internet has become a way of life. It is used to keep in touch with family and friends. It is used to pay bills and handle banking transactions. It is used to retrieve information of all types quickly. All of these functions are as important on your motorhome vacation as when you are sitting at home. motorhome satellite internet semotorhomeices have made it possible to perform all of them when on the road.
The motorhome satellite internet semotorhomeices generally operate with dish type antennas. These antennas use GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) technology to locate and lock on to a satellite which provides the internet connection. The two basic types of antennas are called automatic and tripod. The automatic antennas are permanent mounted to the motorhome. They have a stow position that protects them from wind when the vehicle is in motion. Most of them will automatically go into stow mode when the GPS senses the vehicle is in motion, although there is a stow button on the controller.
The tripod antennas must be manually set up and connected. They are much less expensive than the automatic antennas, but the time required to set them up and take them down makes them less practical for quick internet connection during rest breaks. They are designed to be used when the motorhome has moved to a permanent camp site. People who wish to have quick access to the internet even during short stops usually opt for the automatic antennas.
The systems are not perfect. An unobstructed view of the southern sky is needed and trees or buildings can block the reception. Cloud cover and weather conditions can have some effect on reception, but usually only in the most extreme storm conditions. For the most part, access is fairly easy to achieve. Most of the satellite internet provider semotorhomeices offer broadband semotorhomeices with extremely fast download times. It is possible to combine your internet reception with satellite TV on the same system.
The initial cost of the system is a bit high, especially when you go with an automatic antenna. Once you have your system installed, the monthly costs for semotorhomeice are in line with normal internet semotorhomeice. The advantages of having immediate internet semotorhomeice in your motorhome are many. For years, motorhomeers have been carrying laptops and connecting to the internet in a variety of difficult and time consuming methods. The motorhome satellite internet system has made the internet as much a part of the motorhome experience as the stove and sink.

Yoga And Meditation Tour In IndiaYou talk everyday. Even to yourself.
Every conversation you have plays a part in whether you end up having an uplifting day or a challenging one.
From the first 'hello' until the time you say 'goodnight' you live in conversations.
Those conversations shape our entire lives.
Conversations begin and end friendships, determine whether your business or job thrives or dies and if your relationships flourish or become damaged beyond repair.
How many of us know someone who was told as a child that they would never amount to anything, that they were stupid, fat, ugly, or conversely, brilliant and beautiful?
How many people lived up to what they were told? Did you?
Words are powerful. Yet we take them for granted.
What impact have your words had in the past 24 hours? Did they build someone up or tear someone down?
Communication is everything.
TIP: Spend today actively listening. Pay close attention to EVERY word you hear or speak. Employ what author Robert Mayer calls the '75/25 Partnering Secret': Listen 75% more than you speak.
Sound hard? Understandably, for some of us that process will feel like we're being muzzled.
Try it anyway.
If at this point you're saying, 'I thought the whole point of this thing was being a powerful communicator.' What's more powerful than being 100% present in every conversation?
You're not fully present if you're not paying attention.
Your conversations aren't as rich if you're not fully listening.
The other person is not respected if your answers are combinations of grunts, 'uh huhs' and occasional 'mm-hms' while you're multitasking.
To become a powerful communicator, you must become a powerful listener. You must understand that our lives are lived in conversations. Conversations are two-part interactions: talking AND listening.
Hold a one-day experiment: really focus on the content of your conversations. Are you making idle chitchat? Are you teaching? Are you gossiping? Are you being abusive?
Listen to yourself. Hear what other people hear when you open your mouth. Take an inventory of your communication.
When you do that, an amazing thing happens...you begin to understand why people respond to you the way they do. You begin to understand why people seek you out or talk to you only when absolutely necessary.
You begin to get very clear on how you show up in your conversations.
How much do you use the word 'I'? How much of your conversation is about you? How often do you listen to what's important to the person?
People simply want to be heard. We want to know that someone cares about what we think and feel and do.
Ironically, we tend to regard people who listen intently as great 'conversationalists'.
TIP: Powerful communication begins with powerful and purposeful listening. It involves paying attention instead of hurrying to make your point. It means hesitating when you can easily 'one up' a story you're told. It means occasionally allowing the other person to have the spotlight.
Powerful communication means not saying the first thing that comes up when someone makes you angry. It means understanding that you're writing a chapter in another person's life.
Today, really listen to your communication. And at the end of the day, ask yourself if your conversations helped create a better place to live.

Utopian Pilates And Yoga MatSummer is typically the season that everyone thinks of when planning their vacations. But why not dare to be different and take a winter vacation getaway instead? If you are a skier, snowboarder, or just someone who enjoys the winter months, a winter vacation may be just what you have been looking for. There are plenty of spots around the world that make spectacular winter getaways.
Hershey. If you are traveling before or during the Christmas season, consider Hershey, Pennsylvania as your vacation destination. The home of Hershey's candy, Hershey Park becomes home to Christmas Candyland, where over one million Christmas lights are put on display. Christmas Candyland typically runs for a month prior to Christmas.
Sweden. Located in the small riverside village of Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, Sweden's Ice Hotel is famous worldwide for great winter vacations. The hotel is created each winter out of 10,000 tons of ice from the nearby river and 30,000 tons of snow. The hotel features the famous Absolut Ice Bar, a winter favorite for the 21+ crowd.
Yellowstone. During the winter the Yellowstone National Park, a popular summer destination in the United States, offers Lodging and Learning programs where guests of all ages can stay at Yellowstone and participate in educational lessons during the winter. These programs offer a great way for visitors of all ages to learn about the beautiful and fascinating Yellowstone Park.
Wisconsin Dells. This small Wisconsin town offers a great winter vacation at the Great Wolf Lodge, home of huge indoor water parks. Great Wolf Lodge is a popular destination for families. Visitors of Wisconsin Dells get the best of both worlds with summertime perpetually recreated indoors and snow falling outdoors. Wisconsin Dells is located near both Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.
New England. One of the most historical areas in the United States, New England is where the country was founded. In addition to the number of historical sites throughout the six states that make up the region (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont), you will also find plenty to do in the winter months. Maine offers one of the nicest ski resorts in the country in Sugarloaf USA, or you can try the beautiful White Mountain area of New Hampshire where you will find a plethora of ski resorts and the historical Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeastern United States.
Orlando. If skiing is not really your thing and you are looking to get away from the snow for a few weeks then travel to Florida, one of the most frequented states in the US by vacationers each year. Walt Disney world offers discounted rates during specific periods of the winter months, considered the theme park's off-season. Not only will the parks and restaurants be less crowded than during summer or a school vacation week, but you will be able to enjoy the beautiful Florida weather during your stay.
Caribbean. Why not take a cruise during the winter months? Like Florida, a Caribbean cruise offers a change of pace from the snowy, cold winter months that you may be used to. Winter is typically a perfect time for a cruise because the weather in the Caribbean has calmed down. Summer is hurricane season, spelling trouble for cruises but winter is perfect for calm seas and a relaxing cruise.
Mont Tremblant. Located in the spectacular Laurentian Mountains of the Canadian province of Quebec, Mont Tremblant offers its visitors over 600 acres of land for skiing and snowboarding. Perhaps the best choice if you are looking to take to the slopes, keep in mind that the US dollar is worth more in Canada and can go further than it would on a vacation in the United States.
Alaska. If you are traveling with children, Alaska may be the perfect vacation choice for you. Offering everything from dog sledding, one of Alaska's most popular sports, to viewing the Northern lights, Alaska is one of the best winter vacation destinations. Although it is notorious for its cold, wintry weather, Alaska also holds a number of entertainment options that are likely to keep the whole family busy.
Lake Tahoe. For decades Lake Tahoe has been one of the top winter vacation destinations in the world. Located on the border of Nevada and California just west of Carson City, Nevada, you will find that Lake Tahoe has plenty of activities for everyone in the family. Lake Tahoe averages 360 inches of snow each year, making for a winter wonderland of fun on your winter vacation. There are a number of high quality resorts around picturesque Lake Tahoe and the Rocky Mountains make a fabulous backdrop for the perfect getaway.
